Visionary Studios, a Milwaukee video production company focused on brand storytelling and marketing content, was recently featured on WUWM 89.7 FM, Milwaukee’s NPR station, highlighting the company’s journey from a small startup to working with major Milwaukee creatives and organizations.

Listen to the full 14-minute interview here.

Founded by Milwaukee filmmaker and entrepreneur Brad Roehl, Visionary Studios began as a passion project operating out of his parents’ basement. Like many startups in the Milwaukee creative and marketing industry, the early days were filled with uncertainty. The team often took on projects for little or no pay simply to build a portfolio and prove their value in the competitive Milwaukee video production and digital marketing space.

Eventually, persistence paid off.

A key turning point came when Visionary Studios collaborated with Grammy-nominated R&B artist and Wauwatosa native Grace Weber to produce a music video. That project helped introduce the company to a wider network of artists, organizations, and brands throughout the Milwaukee creative community.

Those relationships later led to work with Visit Milwaukee, the region’s official tourism organization. One of the most notable projects was a comedic promotional video featuring Milwaukee Bucks fan favorite Bobby Portis. The marketing video parodied the style of The Office, with Portis appearing as a fictional intern for the organization.

Projects like this demonstrate how creative video production and marketing storytelling can elevate brands, promote cities, and connect with audiences in memorable ways.

For Roehl and the Visionary Studios team, the experience reinforces a lesson that many entrepreneurs in Milwaukee’s marketing and media industry understand well: small opportunities can lead to major breakthroughs when approached with creativity, professionalism, and persistence.

Today, Visionary Studios continues to grow as a Milwaukee-based video production and marketing company, working with artists, businesses, nonprofits, and organizations to create compelling video content that helps brands tell their story.

From commercial video production and branded marketing videos to creative storytelling projects, the studio remains focused on producing high-quality content while supporting Milwaukee’s vibrant creative ecosystem.
